Zero Configuration networking with Bonjour
Google TechTalks
November 2, 2005 Dr. Stuart Cheshire, Apple Computer
http://www.stuartcheshire.org/
ABSTRACT
The desirability of making IP networking easy to use has been obvious for many years, but achieving that goal has proved elusive. One day, Stuart Cheshire got tired of fellow Stanford Computer Science PhD students wanting to print from his Mac (via AppleTalk) because they couldn't work out how to configure their Linux /etc/printcap files to access the network printer they wanted to use via IP, and he decided it was time someone did something about it.

(It should be the first link that shows up) Go back to the root of your iPod and open the folder "igpSP." Move the file "gba_bios.bin" to this folder.
Directions for step 2:
Go to http://www.rockbox.org and click the "current builds" link. Download and extract the correct rockbox build to the root of your ipod.
Directions for step 3:

Tutorial - get rid of background noise
In this video I show you how to get rid of annoying background noise that's in your video, with the free and open source audioeditor Audacity. Its available for Windows/Mac and Linux and you can find it at http://audacity.sourceforge.net
I use Eemma's video where she complaints about the Mac support as an example but it should work on any video where the noise is very consistent, like a lot of webcams have.
My encoder won't get past 9:35 minutes so that's why its cut off, but the quality is way better than the WMV-encoder I used to have, and I don't say anything important after that anyway.

OSS Speaker Series: The State of the Linux Kernel
Google Tech Talks - May 1, 2007
Andrew will present a broad look at the trends in recent changes in the Linux kernel: what areas of kernel functionality are people working on, and what changes can we expect to see over the next year ?
This feature-by-feature walk-through will be tied to an examination of the motivations of the kernel contributors: why do particular individuals and organizations choose particular things to work upon ?
He will also examine areas of the kernel which are arguably suffering from some neglect, the reasons for this and some possible corrective actions which might be taken.

Allowing Web Access in SELinux using chcon
If you have experienced 403 errors with a RedHat-based distro such as CentOS or Fedora, you may be encountering Type Enforcement issues. This video illustrates one way they commonly originate and how to gain access when you're being forbidden.
What happens here:
- user logs in to root (su or sudo preferred)
- creates new user to generate home directory
- creates index file in home directory
- locates httpd.conf file
- modifies VirtualHost entry to redirect requests
- restarts apache
- loads page, receives 403
- sets chmod and chown values to be less restrictive (unnecessary)
- reloads page to same 403 forbidden error
- views security context with "ls -Z"
- changes security context type with "chcon -T"
- reloads and displays index page successfully
Consult the tutorial at intarwebz.com for more specific details.

Extending Native AD Capabilities to Unix, Linux and Java
One of the biggest challenges facing heterogeneous enterprises today is the ability to provide secure and compliance access, authentication, and authorization of users to all systems, regardless of the platform.
Microsoft Active Directory (AD) has proven ideal in meeting this objective for Windows resources. Unfortunately, AD can't provide the same level of security, compliance, and scalability to Unix, Linux and Java systems by itself. Quest Software can bridge that gap.
In this recorded Webcast, Extending Native AD Capabilities to Unix, Linux and Java, Jackson Shaw, Senior Director, Product Management - AD, will show you how to:
- Make AD the basis for enterprise-wide identity management.
- Leverage the security and compliance of AD, for the rest of your enterprise.
- To create a single sign-on 'trusted realm' for Windows, Unix, Linux and Java systems.

Notes from creator of this video
The one crucial part to remember is that whenver you enter disk mode, you must do it BEFORE the apple logo appears or you may have to start over.
So far not one iPod has been "bricked" from installing iPodLinux, but anything is possible. The maker of this video as well as the contributors to iPodLinux are NOT responsible for anything that happens to your iPod or your computer while attempting this, BUT several users will assist you if you need help. Just visit the iPodLinux forums. Please read around before you post your problem.
This video has nothing to do with Apple Inc. This video is for educational purposes only.
